INVITED

“Because as He is, so also are we in this world.” 1 John 4:17
A few years ago I got a text sitting on my couch watching the National Championship football game. “Hey, would you and Karen come pray for (insert very very famous person)? We have heard about the miracle that happened with you and wondered if you would come?”
You cannot imagine the double take on this text. First thoughts... 1) You’ve got the wrong person and this was for someone else 2) and what if nothing happens when we pray? 🙈 I know... I know… FULL OF DOUBT.
I think this is where most of us spend our life. We have been OFFICIALLY INVITED to do insane things. The word is clear that NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD. But why at every invitation do we just think “we” are the only one on the invite list. “We” is not “we,” it's “us.”
You are never alone nor without HIS POWER. Christ in me is the hope of Glory. Christ in me is the city on a hill. Christ in me is the leper cleanser. Christ in me is full of patience and kindness. But WHY is our immediate reaction to divorce ourselves from Christ when the invitation is hard or impossible or really just out of our comfort zone?
The answer: we don't know who “US” is. “Us” is empowered by the Holy Spirit, “us” is FULL of truth, “us” is FIRE, “us” is WATER to the THIRSTY, “us” is REST for the weary, “us” is BREAD for the WEAK, “us” is COMMUNITY for the LONELY and “US” IS YOU AND ME IN UNION WITH JESUS HIMSELF.
“Because as He is, so ALSO are we in this world.” 1 John 4:17
Karen and I accepted the invite to pray for our new friend. “Us” showed up.
THIS week as you prepare for Invited Conference, ponder the invitations you have received... did you doubt your qualifications!? Did you reject the invite!? Did you accept!?
What is Jesus inviting “us” into!?
