Every widow carries a story—and every story deserves space to breathe, to heal, and to be seen. Our retreats are sacred gatherings designed to create that space.

Over a weekend away, you’ll be invited to rest, connect with other widows who “get it,” and encounter the healing presence of Jesus in a safe, Spirit-led environment.
Through worship, teaching, meals around the table, and quiet moments to exhale, you’ll experience a community that understands loss yet believes in hope, joy, and generational healing.

These retreats aren’t about information—they’re about transformation. You’ll leave with friendships, tools for your grief journey, and a fresh awareness that you are not alone.

Retreats have limited space so that every widow can be fully known and cared for. Your application helps us learn your story, match you with the right retreat, and prepare a space that feels like it was created just for you.

-
Any widow who has one child under the age of 18 still living in the home and is no more than 5 years post her husband’s passing. Additionally, her husband must have served in the US Military or as a Police Officer, Fireman, or EMT. To qualify, her husband must have served at some point during his life including prior to their marriage. Thus, he did not have to be actively serving at the time of his death. During the application process, an applicant may be asked to provide documentation of her husband’s service.
-
The first step in applying for a retreat is determining which retreat you qualify for. Once you’ve determined if you should apply for a General Retreat or a Widows of Heroes retreat, you click the appropriate link on our retreat landing page which will take you to the corresponding application. In order for your application to be reviewed, you will need to upload a recent photo of yourself and your husband's death certificate. If your husband served in the military, a copy of his DD form 1300 or DD 2064 may be uploaded in lieu of a state death certificate. Additionally, upon submission of your application, you’ll receive a link to our recommendation form that we ask you share with a Christian spiritual leader such as a pastor, bible study leader, or mentor who can speak to your current faith journey. A recommendation form must be completed in order for your application to be considered.
-
Our retreats are intentionally Christ-centered and engage deeply with grief, healing, and faith. A recommendation from a pastor, Christian counselor, ministry leader, or trusted Christian mentor provides our team with additional insight into an applicant’s current faith journey and helps us determine whether the retreat is the right environment for her at this time. The recommendation isn’t intended to evaluate the strength of a widow’s faith, but rather it’s part of our commitment to steward her story with wisdom, compassion, and care.
-
Once all required documents are received and your application is complete, our Registration Coordinator will contact you to let you know that your application is now under review. If selected to attend one of our retreats, you’ll receive an email six months prior to the retreat date with an invitation to attend. If you’re unable to make that particular retreat work with your schedule, you’ll be moved to the waitlist for the following year.

If you have a question about our retreats or the application process, please contact our registration coordinator at registration@neveralonewidows.com.
